Why Knowing Your Curl Type Matters
Not all curls are the same. Using the wrong products for your curl type can make your hair look limp, greasy, or frizzy. Once you know your curl type, you can choose the right products and routine — and your curls will look dramatically better.
The Curl Type Chart
Type 2: Wavy Hair
Type 2a — Loose Waves

How to Find Your Curl Type (The Wet Test)
- Wash your hair with just conditioner (no shampoo)
- Let your hair air dry completely — no touching, no towel, no products
- Look at the pattern your hair naturally forms
- Compare with the descriptions above
Pro tip: Your hair might have multiple curl types. Most Indian hair is 2b-3a at the back and 2a-2b at the front. This is completely normal — just use products that work for your dominant type.
Indian Hair Specifics
Indian hair has unique characteristics:
- Thick individual strands — Indian hair strands are thicker than East Asian or European hair
- High density — We have more hair per square inch
- Oily scalp, dry ends — Very common in Indian women
- Humidity sensitivity — Indian weather (especially monsoon) causes extreme frizz
- Protein-sensitive — Some Indian hair reacts poorly to too much protein in products
